We are seeking a Board-Certified/Board-Eligible OB/GYN Physician for a locum tenens opportunity near Iowa City, IA. This position offers 24-hour call coverage and is available ASAP - Ongoing.   • Sleep room available on-site for convenience
• Call Requirements: 1:5 call ratio, with call schedule available 1-2 months in advance
• Dates of Coverage:
  • October 6 & 7
  • Additional dates in November and beyond
• Trauma Level:
  Level 3

• Setting: OB & GYN in a hospital
  • Average of 2-5 nursery admissions per day
  • 40% low-risk pregnancies, 60% high-risk pregnancies
  • Percentage of C-sections depends on the physician
• Support Staff:
  • Labor & Delivery team
  • Postpartum, OR, ER staff
  • 1-2 Certified Nurse Midwives (CNMs)
• Onsite Facilities:
  Lab & Ultrasound available
• EMR System: CERNER

• Clinical Expertise:
  • Provide 24-hour OB/GYN care in a hospital setting
  • Handle a mix of low and high-risk pregnancies
  • Perform C-sections as needed
  • Collaborate with support staff to ensure quality care in Labor & Delivery, Postpartum, and Emergency services
  • Assist with on-call duties for scheduled dates and potentially more as needed
• Call Coverage:
  • Flexible call schedule, working 24-hour shifts, split between on-site and off-site availability depending on patient census
  • Ability to cover additional shifts as the need arises due to physician shortages

• Licensure:
  Active and unrestricted Iowa medical license required
• Certification:
  Board-Certified/Board-Eligible in OB/GYN
• Additional Certifications: NRP required
• Experience:
  Prior experience with both low and high-risk pregnancies preferred

• Reason for Coverage:
  The facility lost a physician, and a new one wont start until summer 2025. Theres also an anticipated maternity leave.
• Coverage Length:
  Flexible, with opportunities for ongoing locum coverage
• Patient Volume:
  Call-only work, average of 2-5 admissions per day
• Compensation:
  Hourly rate, determined based on experience and contract terms
