The Iowa City School District serves more than 14,000 students and is the second largest school district in the state of Iowa. The district covers roughly 133 square miles with 20 preschool sites, 20 elementary schools, three middle schools, three comprehensive high schools, one alternative high school, one online school, and a Transition Services Center, a program for special education students ages 18-21.

• Business, finance or educational administrative college degree required
• Business leadership experience required
• Certified Public Accountant (CPA) preferred
• Experience in school business operations preferred
• Iowa School Business Officials' certification preferred (candidates without this certification are expected to obtain this certification through the Iowa Board of Educational Examiners)

The Chief Financial Officer will provide leadership and direction in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of administrative and financial services and operations for the school district. The primary responsibilities of the Chief Financial Officer are to direct and coordinate the activities related to the budget, finances, and systems improvement. They will determine and implement quality tools and processes across the district but specifically related to business and operations areas.
