The National Resource Center for Family Centered Practice in the School of Social Work at the University of Iowa invites applications for a Training & Development Associate (Behavioral Health Consultant /Paygrade 3A). This position works under the direction of the Training Director to provide training support to National Resource Center for Family Centered Practice (NRC) in the School of Social Work.
This position is responsible for overseeing recovery coach training and continuing education programs of the Iowa Peer Workforce Collaborative which includes advertising, maintaining registration files and follow-up with trainees, managing training classes, and applying for CEUs through Iowa Board of Certification. Supervision will be provided by the Training Director.
This is a 100% time, 1-year Specified Term Position.
Key Responsibilities- Recruit, screen, and enroll applicants for training provided by the Iowa Peer Workforce Collaborative including recovery coach, continuing education, ethics, and supervisor trainings.
- Communicate with trainees, supervisors, and trainers to support and monitor progress, evaluate, and coordinate training.
- Create training materials including flyers, handouts, and toolkit items.
- Assist with data entry and management of program databases and related processes.
- Assist in evaluating, designing, and reviewing continuing education requirements for peer professional development.
- Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 1 year related administrative and program experience.
- Excellent verbal communication skills; including demonstrated positive interpersonal skills and experience leading and/or participating as a member of work teams and groups. Detailed oriented, able to meet timelines, and balance multiple tasks.
- Proficiency in computer software applications, including demonstrated experience using email, spreadsheet and word processing programs and using the internet for conducting research and locating resources.
- Ability to travel statewide; and hold a valid driver’s license, plus the ability to meet the University of Iowa Fleet Safety Program driving standards (University of Iowa Operations Manual Part V, Chapter 19.
- Knowledge of state and local resources for adults with mental illness.
- Excellent written communication skills, including experience creating, writing and editing educational/informational material.
- Demonstrated experience with public speaking.
- Successful completion of a State of Iowa approved Peer Support Specialist Training Program. Experience working in a team-based environment.
- Experience providing peer support (one on one and/or group facilitation).
- Experience working with UI policies and procedures.
- Experience teaching and/or providing training to adult learners.
- Experience creating presentation materials including PowerPoint, video embedding, and other presentation tools.
