Job summaryPrepares, maintains and updates public infrastructure asset maps, plats, graphics, statistics, web applications and presentation materials with extensive use of geographic information (GIS) and asset management systems. Use global positioning system (GPS) instruments to collect utility infrastructure data and train others in the use of basic GPS data collection. Under general direction, conducts on-site inspections of public infrastructure for data collection, verification and other uses.
Assists with the management of the City’s asset management system to aid in project analysis, design and construction. Tracks public infrastructure construction projects and coordinates information to be included in the City’s asset management system.
- Prepares, maintains and updates public infrastructure asset maps, plats, graphics, statistics, web applications and presentation materials with extensive use of geographic information (GIS) and asset management systems.
- Uses global positioning system (GPS) instruments to collect utility infrastructure data and trains others in basic GPS data collection.

- Assists with the management of the City’s asset management system to aid in project analysis, design and construction.
- Tracks public infrastructure construction projects and coordinates information to be included in the City’s asset management system.
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited educational institution; or four years of related experience and/or equivalent combination of education and experience. Degree in GIS, Civil/Construction Engineering Technology, or related.
- Experience working with GIS or asset management software.
- Valid State of Iowa driver's license with satisfactory driving record.
- Must be 18 years of age.
- Must pass criminal background check.
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited educational institution and one year of related experience; or five years of related experience and/or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience with construction, construction inspection, engineering drafting or related.
- Experience with Open Gov (Cartegraph) Asset Management System.
