Job Title
The position supports and advances patient care by applying engineering and organizational skills to healthcare engineering as demonstrated by the following major responsibilities:
- Assists with capital and infrastructure planning and design for the medical facility spanning initial strategic planning, concept development, design, construction, and effective implementation of complex buildings, utilities, and medical support systems.
- Manages healthcare engineering project design and administers construction in accordance with VA policies and procedures, VA Design Guides, VA Design Manuals, VA Master Specifications and related industry codes and standards.
- Performs healthcare engineering project construction management and post project activities while ensuring continuity of building and utility services for medical facility operations.
- Assists in development and implementation of the environment of care program that meets current Joint Commission, Food and Drug Administration (FDA), College of American Pathologists (CAP), NFPA, and VA requirements, particularly as it relates to construction safety and infection control.
- The incumbent implements energy conservation initiatives and prepares project submission documents for cost effective energy conservation retrofit projects.
- Monitor utility systems components looking for significant changes in consumption rates or replacement quantities.
- Evaluate data compiled from the Building Automation System (BAS), looking for trends, such as under and over utilized cooling or heating hydronic and steam flows, air flows and high or low system static pressures.
- Monitor control and alarm set points within the BAS.
- Work with energy plant personnel to monitor/improve efficiency of boiler and chiller operations.
- Monitor natural gas and fuel oil prices to determine when utilizing alternate fuel such as fuel oil in facility boilers is of economic benefit to the facility.
- Evaluate existing energy savings systems, such as glycol loops, heat wheels and solar panels and recommending appropriate operational changes and/or preventative maintenance to optimize performance.
- Review and monitor service contracts and contractor performance for such contracted services associated with water treatment for boilers and chillers, preventative maintenance services for HVAC controls, boilers, chillers, air handlers and other utility systems equipment for scope appropriateness, contractor performance and billing accuracy.
- Manage the building HVAC automation and energy management system(s) and utility metering initiatives (electrical, water, etc.) ensuring proper use, maintenance, expansion, and administration.
- Monitor Commissioning (Cx) and Retro-Cx contracts to ensure optimization and high level performance of facility building service equipment/real property installed equipment (BSE/RPIE).

Monday-Friday, 800am-4:30pm

Competitive salary and regular salary increases
