The College of Nursing invites candidates to apply for an Instructional Services Coordinator position. Under the direction of the Nursing Clinical Education Center (NCEC) Co-Director, the Instructional Services Coordinator is responsible for the functioning, operation, and support of all learning activities in the NCEC, located within University of Iowa Health Care. This position supports NCEC learners by producing clinical learning spaces directed by the NCEC College of Nursing faculty.

This position also supports supply management and ensures the operation and maintenance of all NCEC equipment, including high fidelity simulators, computer systems, audio-visual systems, and medical equipment. Responsibilities include problem-solving routine technology issues with center equipment and providing technical and operational guidance to clients, both internal and external, to support their simulated learning activities. This position will require work outside of the 8 am to 5 pm workday depending on student learning needs.

Key Areas of Responsibilities:

Instruct, train, consult, support

* Review simulation activity supply lists, ask clarifying questions, and collaborate with faculty and staff to procure and organize consumables for all learning activities.

* Use software that supports simulation activities, including Muse, Touch Pro, Vital Sim, Sim Pad, UNI, audio-visual, and communications software.

* Prepare simulation spaces and equipment for simulation staging by reviewing the scenario, script, and computer operator roles, reviewing the activity's learning objectives, and asking clarifying questions of faculty.

* Input data into a simulated electronic health record from instructions provided by faculty.

* Set up and tear down simulation activities (stage patient care settings with appropriate medical supplies and moulage).

* Provide faculty with basic technical trouble shooting support in the classroom and simulation spaces when using software such as Microsoft Office, Zoom, ICON/Canvas, etc.

* Train and support NCEC users to safely operate simulation and other equipment.

* Act as a simulated patient, using a script to portray a patient. Training will be provided to assume roles as a simulated patient.

Facilities/technology management

* Keep the learning environment clean, organized, and functional for learners.

* Identify facility maintenance and A/V needs to alert the appropriate entity when fixes are needed.

* Operate and maintain complex equipment, requiring specialized knowledge and skills such as task trainers and simulation manikins.

* Provide routine cleaning and preventative maintenance of training equipment.

* Diagnose, troubleshoot, and problem-solve issues with simulators, equipment, and classroom technologies.

* Consults with manufacturer technical support as needed; repair simulators or facilitate repair by the manufacturer.

* Coordinate the check-in and check-out of NCEC simulation equipment, including training in the proper use of the equipment at check-out and inspection and cleaning at check-in.

Operational management (Financial and Administrative)

* Support outreach activities, including facility tours, recruitment events such as Hawkeye Visit Days, STEM activities, and philanthropic visits.

* Using NCEC processes, maintain inventory, order, and organize supplies, equipment, consumable supplies, and services. Serve as the 'receiver' of goods.

* Provide input for purchasing materials related to operations.

* In conjunction with NCEC Co-Director and NCEC Manager, assist in monitoring accounts and expenditures.

* Provide input into the revisions of NCEC policies and procedures, as directed by the NCEC Executive Committee.

* Use the room booking software, views, creates, and edits reservations in collaboration with the NCEC Co-Director, NCEC Manager and other NCEC users
