The University of Iowa Community Clinics is seeking a patient‑centered 100% (40 hours a week) Medical Assistant II (MA II) to work at our UICC Holiday Road and North Dodge Pediatric Clinics. This position will mainly support those clinics but may float to other patient specialties or clinic locations.

We provide care for pregnancy, infant wellness, vaccinations, school and athletic physicals, acute visits, annual check‑ups, mental health, on‑site laboratory services, and more. When specialized care is needed, our family medicine provider connects patients with the appropriate UI Health Care specialist, ensuring a seamless experience by sharing medical records.

- Schedule:
Variable hours Monday – Friday between 7:30 a.m. and 7:00 p.m.; weekend rotation; holidays as needed; no on‑call time. - Location:
Iowa City, IA and Coralville, IA (or surrounding clinics based on clinical need). - Pay Grade: 9 – $40,903.92 – $60,760.80 for 100% time; hourly $19.59 – $29.10 (based on years of experience).
Under direct supervision of a Licensed Independent Practitioner (LIP), registered nurse (RN), nurse manager (NM) or assistant nurse manager (ANM) or other licensed designee, you will function as a member of the patient care team. You will perform technical, patient care and related clerical functions in an urgent care setting by coordinating all elements of the patient visit.
Duties- Support pediatric clinic patients.
- Work under direct supervision of physicians, physician assistants, nurse practitioners or registered nurses.
- Perform technical, patient care and related clerical functions in an ambulatory setting.
- Use electronic word/data processing equipment and/or conventional office equipment as required.
- Certification or registration as a Medical Assistant, or completion of a recognized one‑year Medical Assistant Program, or completion of a health‑care profession program that includes elements of a Medical Assistant program (e.g., pathophysiology, medical terminology, basic pharmacology, medication administration including dose calculation, and psychology).
- Driver’s License and ability to meet UI Fleet Safety Standards.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Previous EPIC experience.
- Previous pediatric clinic experience.
- Ability to demonstrate teamwork, collaboration, and autonomy in all aspects of the role.
