Job Title
PACS Management
Major duties include, but are not limited to:
- Provides first line technical support for image transmission and voice recognition and display errors related to modalities to include:
Vista interface, display workstations, printers, and voice recognition system. Initiates proper repairs when possible and instructs users in proper operation or work arounds, and initiates service level agreements coordinating repair requests with appropriate services or vendors when necessary. Investigates system malfunctions to determine the cause. Defines and isolates the specific problem(s), using available diagnostic and error recovery techniques, and initiates corrective actions.
Monitors equipment controlling environment and executes emergency procedures in case of natural or man-made disasters and security risk situations. - Performs daily support in PACS operations. Monitors PACS, voice recognition (VR) and related systems including application systems, networking interface software, imaging modality interfaces and system administrative software. Evaluates system performance by utilizing various tools, capacity planning, and imaging management/maintenance to adjust system and operation parameters as necessary. Oversees all aspects of implementation of software and upgrades to the PACS system.
Research and Training
- Assists the Chief of Radiology and Biomedical Engineers in assessment, PACS integration, and procurement of new equipment. Identifies problems, gathers data, performs analysis, and proposes solutions to problems and barriers to establishment of an efficient, cost effective filmless radiology environment. Provides analysis of user needs and recommends appropriate hardware and software solutions.
- Assures compliance of all Radiology related system and personnel security requirements to include any Teleradiology services.
Critical Results Administrator/Coordinator
- Hospital point of contact for Nuance Support (Critical Results program).
- Account Management for the Critical Results Directory as stated in the Data Maintenance Plan.
- Responsible for adding and inactivating Ordering Clinician, Radiologist, and Coordinator user accounts.
- Maintains Critical Results identifiers in PS360 Reporting user accounts.
- Updates notification preferences for individuals and groups.
- Works with the Nuance Customer Success Manager to review reports and address workflow needs.
Radiology Order Management
- Runs daily reports for Pending, Hold, Overdue scheduled, and Incomplete orders and Radiology exams.
- Assigns and performs follow up actions as needed to resolve orders per the National Radiology Program Orders Management and Scheduling Guidelines and local facility policies.
Peer Review
- Manages periodic peer review of all department radiologists through the use of Peer Review software.
- Selects additional cases for review as needed, following VA National Radiology Guidelines for OPPE or FPPE, in coordination with the Chief of Radiology.
Patient Care
- Performs General Radiology procedures as needed to ensure appropriate coverage for daily clinical hours. This will be at the direction of the Imaging Supervisor, Chief of Radiology, or designee.
- The incumbent may be required to provide after-hours PACS call coverage during scheduled downtimes.
