JPW) - 90%

The Department of Nursing intends to hire for one position at either the Psychiatric Nursing Assistant I classification, or Psychiatric Nursing Assistant II classification, based on the qualifications of the successful candidate.

The University of Iowa Health Care Department of Nursing is seeking a Psychiatric Nursing Assistant to perform specific tasks to assist members of the Nursing team in providing patient care under the direct supervision of Registered Nurses.

Child and Adolescent Psychiatry

John Pappajohn Pavillion (1 JPW) is a 15-bed inpatient unit dedicated to child and adolescent (3-17 years old) psychiatry services. This unit patient population includes depression, anxiety, eating disorder, intellectual disability, substance abuse, and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder. The unit provides structured therapy, including Dialectal Behavioral Therapy. Unique unit design features Circle School, playground, and gym to improve patient experience and outcomes.

  • Work well with all levels and types of people

Percent of Time: 90%
Schedule: 36 hours per week, night shifts , every other weekend requirement and rotating holidays.

Minimum Eligibility Requirements
  • Ability to read, write and follow instructions.
  • Be a Certified Nursing Assistant
  • Have strong written communication skills with experience providing customer service relations
  • Previous patient care experience in a Mental Health setting is highly desired.
