The University of Iowa Health Care's Department of Nursing is seeking a Staff Nurse (RN) for the Adult Acute Care Unit (2
JCP). The Adult Acute Care Unit is part of UI Health Care's Medical Surgical Services (MSS) division. The Adult Acute Care Unit is a 30-bed, medical surgical unit. We serve a variety of patient populations, including the Family Medicine service along with specialized surgical patients. The surgical patients include otolaryngology (ENT), oral surgery, and plastic reconstructive surgery. We are able to provide our patients with all private rooms, which allows for a more comfortable experience for both patients and their families.
We have a highly skilled multi‑disciplinary team that helps to provide excellent patient care to all patients on our unit. Our goal is to provide each patient an individualized care plan, and provide them the support and care they need and deserve.
- Percent of Time: 60%, 24 hours per week
- Schedule:
Days, Saturday and Sunday 0700‑1930, holiday requirements when they are on weekends - Location:
Iowa City, Iowa - Salary: $61,183.00 minimum at 100% effort; salary will vary based on years of experience and percent of effort

- Pay Differentials:
Shift differentials for evening, night, and weekend shifts; premium pay for additional shifts greater than 4 hours; inpatient differential of $10,000 per year based on 100% time

- An Associate’s Degree in Nursing, a Diploma in Nursing, a Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing, Professional Masters of Nursing and Healthcare Practice (MNHP), MSN/Clinical Nurse Leader or a Master’s Degree in Nursing (MSN, MA) is required
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required
- Demonstrates excellent interpersonal skills with patients/families, nursing staff, and interdisciplinary team members as demonstrated through written and verbal interactions
- General computer skills are required
- Current license to practice nursing in Iowa is required by date of hire
- Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing or Masters Degree in Nursing is highly desired
- If Baccalaureate degree in Nursing is not yet obtained, active enrollment in a BSN program is desirable
- Previous telemetry experience is desired.
- Knowledge of University policies and procedures
