Staff Nurse - PACU & Second Stage Recovery- D​/E Rotating

University of Iowa Health Care Department of Nursing is seeking a Staff Nurse in the Post Anesthesia Care Unit to assist the Nursing team in providing patient care under the supervision of the Nurse Manager.

• Applies nursing theory to the assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and evaluation of patient responses to health and illness.
• Assesses patient health care preferences and expectations.
• Collaboratively coordinates the continuum of care across settings.
• Develops patient care plan based on patient condition, age, and psychological, educational, and socioeconomic factors to prescribe interventions that attain expected outcomes.
• Implements patient care plan according to patient priorities, including interventions identified through nursing diagnoses, and documents/reports interventions and patient/family response.
• Collaborates and integrates contributions of patients and families into multidisciplinary patient care plans.
• Develops, coordinates, and implements transfer/discharge planning throughout the episode of care.
• Implements nursing interventions according to department, division, or unit policies, procedures, and protocols to maintain a safe environment for patients, visitors, and staff. Follows universal precautions.

50-100%

D/E 8-10 hour rotating shifts between  with occasional call.

University Campus

$61,183 (at 100% effort) to commensurate; does not include inpatient or shift differential.

Pay Differentials:
Shift differentials for evening, night, and weekend shifts.

OR Premium Pay:
Up to $10,000 per year at 100% effort.

Inpatient Differentials:
Up to $10,000 per year at 100% effort.

Full-time orientation schedule of eight-hour or ten-hour shifts, primarily Monday through Friday, with one rotating day off per week for ten-hour orientation shifts.

• Associate’s Degree in Nursing, Diploma in Nursing, Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing, Professional Masters of Nursing and Healthcare Practice (MNHP), MSN/Clinical Nurse Leader, or Master’s Degree in Nursing (MSN, MA).

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Excellent interpersonal skills with patients/families, nursing staff, and interdisciplinary team members.
• General computer skills.
• Current license to practice nursing in Iowa at hire date.

• Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing or Masters Degree in Nursing.
• Active enrollment in a BSN program if Baccalaureate degree not yet obtained.
• Knowledge of university policies and procedures.
• Minimum of one year RN telemetry experience or one year RN post-surgical step-down experience.
