University of Iowa Health Care Department of Nursing is seeking a Staff Nurse in the Post Anesthesia Care Unit to assist the Nursing team in providing patient care under the supervision of the Nurse Manager.
Responsibilities- Applies nursing theory to the assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and evaluation of patient responses to health and illness.
- Assesses patient health care preferences and expectations.
- Collaboratively coordinates the continuum of care across settings.
- Develops patient care plan based on patient condition, age, and psychological, educational, and socioeconomic factors to prescribe interventions that attain expected outcomes.
- Implements patient care plan according to patient priorities, including interventions identified through nursing diagnoses, and documents/reports interventions and patient/family response.
- Collaborates and integrates contributions of patients and families into multidisciplinary patient care plans.
- Develops, coordinates, and implements transfer/discharge planning throughout the episode of care.
- Implements nursing interventions according to department, division, or unit policies, procedures, and protocols to maintain a safe environment for patients, visitors, and staff. Follows universal precautions.

Compensation$61,183 (at 100% effort) to commensurate; does not include inpatient or shift differential.
Pay Differentials:
Shift differentials for evening, night, and weekend shifts.
OR Premium Pay:
Up to $10,000 per year at 100% effort.
Inpatient Differentials:
Up to $10,000 per year at 100% effort.

OrientationFull-time orientation schedule of eight-hour or ten-hour shifts, primarily Monday through Friday, with one rotating day off per week for ten-hour orientation shifts.
Education Required- Associate’s Degree in Nursing, Diploma in Nursing, Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing, Professional Masters of Nursing and Healthcare Practice (MNHP), MSN/Clinical Nurse Leader, or Master’s Degree in Nursing (MSN, MA).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with patients/families, nursing staff, and interdisciplinary team members.
- General computer skills.
- Current license to practice nursing in Iowa at hire date.
- Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing or Masters Degree in Nursing.
- Active enrollment in a BSN program if Baccalaureate degree not yet obtained.
- Knowledge of university policies and procedures.
- Minimum of one year RN telemetry experience or one year RN post-surgical step-down experience.
