The brand new, state-of-the-art 24-bed unit is part of the Holden Comprehensive Cancer Center and houses the only blood and marrow transplant unit in Iowa. It is a dynamic and fast‑paced environment, rich with opportunities for both the new graduate nurse and the experienced nurse looking for new challenges. Specialized, comprehensive care is provided to adult patients with leukemia and patients undergoing transplant for multiple myeloma, leukemia, lymphoma, and other types of hematologic disorders.
Caring for these patients is a holistic and dynamic process that is both challenging and stimulating. Our interdisciplinary team is skilled in oncology care to provide exceptional, compassionate, and outcome‑focused care.
To provide expertise in quality patient/family-centered care for every patient, every time, through competence, character, and communication.
Percent of Time50% - 90%, 20 - 36 hours per week.
ScheduleNight shifts, with weekend rotation and an every-other holiday rotation.
LocationRegular salaried position located in Iowa City, Iowa.
Salary$61,782 minimum at 100% effort. This does not include differentials. Salary will vary based on years of experience and percent of effort.

Pay DifferentialsShift differentials for evening, night, and weekend shifts. Premium pay for additional shifts greater than 4 hours. Inpatient differentials of up to $10,000 per year based on percent time.

- An Associate’s Degree in Nursing, a Diploma in Nursing, a Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing, Professional Masters of Nursing and Healthcare Practice (MNHP), MSN/Clinical Nurse Leader, or a Master’s Degree in Nursing (MSN, MA).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with patients/families, nursing staff, and interdisciplinary team members.
- General computer skills, including proficiency with multiple databases and Microsoft Excel.
- Current license to practice nursing in Iowa required by date of hire.
- Current ACLS certification desired.
- Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing or Master’s Degree in Nursing highly desired.
- If a Baccalaureate degree has not yet been obtained, active enrollment in a BSN program desirable.
- Knowledge of University policies and procedures.
