Position: Staff Nurse - Holden Comprehensive Cancer Center (Clinic Intake) (70%)

Qualified candidates are eligible for a sign‑on bonus up to $12,500.

Position

70% Staff Nurse – Holden Comprehensive Cancer Center, University of Iowa Health Care, Campus location.

Responsibilities
  • Applies nursing theory to assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and evaluation of patient responses.
  • Assesses patient health care preferences and expectations.
  • Collaboratively coordinates continuum of care across settings.
  • Develops patient care plan based on patient condition, age, socioeconomic factors, and prescribes interventions to attain expected outcomes.
  • Implements patient care plan according to patient priorities, documenting and reporting interventions and patient/family response.
  • Integrates contributions of patients and families into a multidisciplinary patient care plan.
  • Develops, coordinates, and implements transfer and discharge planning throughout the episode of care.
  • Implements nursing interventions per department policies, procedures, and protocols to maintain a safe environment for patients, visitors, and staff.
Education
  • Associate’s Degree in Nursing, Diploma in Nursing, Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing, Professional Master’s of Nursing and Healthcare Practice, MSN/Clinical Nurse Leader, or Master’s Degree in Nursing (MSN, MA).
Required Qualifications
  • Current license to practice in Iowa by the time of hire.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with patients, families, nursing staff, and interdisciplinary team members.
  • General computer skills.
  • Ability to work well in a team.
Desired Qualifications
  • Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing or Master’s Degree in Nursing is highly desired.
  • Active enrollment in a BSN program if the degree is not yet obtained.
  • Oncology experience.
  • Previous experience with EPIC.
Compensation & Benefits

Salary: $61,183 minimum at 100% effort; varies with experience and effort percentage.

Benefits include paid vacation; sick leave; health, dental, life, and disability insurance; and generous employer contributions to retirement plans.

Schedule & Location

Schedule:

Monday–Friday, 8–10 hour shifts. Two extended shifts once every four weeks. No nights, holidays, or weekends. 70% effort (28 hours per week).
