Licensed Practical Nurse – UI Health Care Neurology Clinic 100%
The University of Iowa Community Clinics (UICC) is seeking a patient‑centered 10% (40 hours a week)
Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to work at the UICC Neurology Clinic. This position will mainly support our Neurology Clinic but can float to other patient specialties and clinic locations based on clinical needs and hours.
Our Neurology Clinic provides consultation services, evaluations, diagnosis, and treatments for adult patients with a broad spectrum of disorders affecting the nervous system. Our general neurologists are committed to providing specialized care with a generalist perspective, ensuring an innovative, effective, and personalized approach to diagnosis and treatment of a wide variety of neurological conditions. Patients with any neurologic problem, uncertain about their neurologic condition, experiencing neurological symptoms, or needing a neurological evaluation may receive care in the general neurology outpatient clinic.

When a patient needs specialty care, our family medicine provider connects them with the appropriate UI Health Care specialist, ensuring a seamless experience by sharing your medical records.
Responsibilities- Provides nursing care under the supervision of a registered professional nurse.
- Participates in the development of nursing care plans and in the implementation of therapeutic programs for patients.
- May assume responsibility for directing and supervising assigned nursing personnel in less complex situations; in more complex situations performs as an assistant to the registered professional nurse.
- Maintains a current valid driver’s license and meets the University Driving Policy Standards.
- Licensed as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) with the Iowa Board of Nursing, or eligible for a temporary work permit; responsible for continuing education to maintain valid LPN certification.
- Basic Cardiac Life Support provider.
- Driver’s License and ability to meet UI Fleet Safety Standards.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to adapt quickly to different clinical environments and patient populations.
- Previous Epic experience.
- Previous Neurology clinic experience.
- One year of experience as a Medical Assistant.
- Demonstrated experience fostering a welcoming and respectful work/academic environment.
- Regular salaried position located in Iowa City, IA (and surrounding clinic locations).

Monday – Friday, variable from 7:45 AM to 5:00 PM, with a one‑hour lunch. No weekends, on‑call time, or holidays required.

Pay Grade & SalaryPay Grade: 11
Salary: $45,455.76 – $67,713.84 (at 100% time) – Hourly: $21.77 – $32.43 (based on years of experience).
