Position Summary
UI Health Care Department of Nursing seeks a 100% Staff Nurse to work in the Neurosurgery Clinic. Sign‑on incentive: up to $10,000.
Duties- Assess patients’ nursing care needs, evaluate effectiveness of care, and integrate nursing theory and research into practice.
- Apply nursing theory to the assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and evaluation of patient responses to health and illness.
- Assess patient health‑care preferences and expectations.
- Collaboratively coordinate the continuum of care across settings.
- Develop patient‑care plans based on the patient’s condition, age, and psychological, educational, and socioeconomic factors to achieve expected outcomes.
- Implement patient‑care plans according to priority, documenting interventions and patient/family responses.
- Collaborate with patients and families to integrate their contributions into multidisciplinary care plans.
- Coordinate and implement transfer/discharge planning throughout the episode of care.
- Implement nursing interventions in accordance with department, division, and unit policies, procedures, and protocols to maintain a safe environment for patients, visitors, and staff. Follow universal precautions.
100% (40 hours/week)
Salary$61,183 minimum at 100% effort. Salary commensurate with experience.
ScheduleMonday‑Friday, 8‑hour shifts within 7:30‑5:00 pm. No nights, weekends, holidays, or on‑call.

Education- Associate’s Degree in Nursing, Diploma in Nursing, Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing, or a Master’s Degree in Nursing (MSN, MA, MNHP) is required.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with patients, families, nursing staff, and interdisciplinary team members.
- General computer skills.
- Current license to practice nursing in Iowa, required by date of hire.
- Baccalaureate or Master’s Degree in Nursing is highly desired.
- Active enrollment in a BSN program if the Baccalaureate degree is not yet obtained.
- Minimum one year of inpatient nursing experience.
- Ambulatory nursing experience.
- Nursing certification.
