The University of Iowa Health Care Department of Nursing is seeking a Staff Nurse to perform specific tasks to assist members of the Nursing team in providing patient care under the direct supervision of the Nurse Manager.

• Phone triage and mychart triage for medical questions — back up to clinical coordinator
  • Respond to inquiries from physician offices, patients, and patient family members; integrate information and respond if answers are within the scope of RN clinical practice, or forward to residents for appropriate escalation of care.
• Clinic Prep
  • Ensure appropriate testing (labs, imaging) is obtained before each clinic and manage appropriate timelines for appointments (time‑sensitive vs. first available).
  • Manage referrals and determine appropriate testing based on algorithm or communication with provider.
• Conduct postoperative check‑in phone calls.
• Be present in clinic for assistance with order entry, education, and teaching.

80% (32 hours/week)

Monday – Friday, 08:30 – 17:00

No holidays, no weekends, no call.

$60,000 minimum at 100% effort, commensurate with experience and percent of effort.

• Associate’s Degree in Nursing, Diploma in Nursing, Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing, Professional Masters of Nursing and Healthcare Practice (MNHP), MSN/Clinical Nurse Leader, or a Master’s Degree in Nursing (MSN, MA).

• Minimum 1 year of nursing experience.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Excellent interpersonal skills with patients/families, nursing staff, and interdisciplinary team members.
• General computer skills.
• Ability to communicate complicated information to children and their parents.
• Proven ability to problem‑solve and integrate into a team.
• Current license to practice nursing in Iowa required by date of hire.

• Ambulatory Nursing experience.
