Walk-In Clinics - Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner (ARNP) 65

The University of Iowa Health Care Walk‑In Clinics is seeking a 65% (26 hours a week) Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioners (ARNP) to primarily support our Iowa City/Corridor Walk‑In Clinics (Urgent Care/Quick Care Clinics). Our ARNPs provide direct patient care, including diagnostic and therapeutic services within our Walk‑In Clinics, helping patients avoid emergency department visits. We are open evenings, weekends, and some holidays, and our multidisciplinary approach encourages teamwork across clinical teams.

• Provide care at Quick Care and Urgent Care Clinics, rotating clinical sites.
• Obtain patient history and perform physical examinations.
• Assess, diagnose, and treat medical or surgical problems and record findings.
• Perform and assist with laboratory and related studies, and interpret results.
• Carry out therapeutic procedures such as injections, immunizations, suturing, wound care, foreign body removal, ear and eye irrigation, and other clinical procedures.
• Arrange for continued care, including transfer to emergency centers, follow‑up care, or referrals to primary or specialty physicians.
• Perform and screen results of special medical exams including ECG, radiography, audiometric and vision screening, tonometry, and pulmonary function tests.
• Educate and counsel patients on physical and mental health topics such as diets, disease prevention, therapy, and normal growth and development.
• Respond promptly to urgent medical problems with appropriate evaluation, treatment, and procedures.
• Maintain awareness of health facilities, agencies, and resources for patient referrals.
• Order medications and administer drugs.
• Direct other medical personnel and health professionals in patient care.
• Perform duties appropriate to a physician’s practice.
• Participate in teaching health‑care students in various programs.
• Serve on committees within the division, department, College of Medicine, and University of Iowa Health Care.
• Maintain effective working relationships with faculty, staff, students, and the public.
• Perform all other duties as assigned on a permanent or temporary basis.

• Regular salaried position located in the Corridor area and Quad Cities Clinics. Travel to other clinical locations may be required based on clinical needs or hours.

Variable work hours between 7:00 AM–7:30 PM, Sunday to Saturday, with rotating weekend and holiday shifts. Clinical location may change based on clinic needs and hours.

ARNP:
Master’s degree in Nursing is required; a Master’s in a related field with a Baccalaureate in Nursing is also acceptable.

• Current board certification (FNP) in the specialty area and licensure as ARNP in Iowa.
• Current license to practice nursing and as an ARNP in Iowa.
• Experience in the clinical practice area.
• Ability to manage acutely ill patients of all ages in a highly functioning unit or department.
