Labor and Delivery
The Labor and Delivery Unit (6
JPP) is a 15-bed unit with a variety of labor, triage, and recovery rooms in addition to 2 operating rooms and 1 procedure room. This unit serves patients with low and high-risk pregnancies alike, providing care for those with pre-eclampsia, preterm labor, diabetes, cardiovascular disease, bleeding concerns, and fetal disease among other conditions. Both medicated and unmedicated labor is supported through a variety of techniques with obstetricians, certified nurse midwives, and family practice physicians performing deliveries.
Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Perform patient personal hygiene such as bathing, toileting, feeding, dressing, grooming and oral care for patients
- Assist patients with bedpans, urinals and perineal cleansing
- Turn, position and ambulate patients
- Take temperature, pulse and blood pressure
- Enter daily patient record charting in computer
- Clean equipment, patient bedside area and nursing unit
- Set up rooms for patient admission
- Transport patients by bed, cart or wheelchair
- Transport equipment, specimens and supplies
- Stock and supply patient rooms and Nursing unit
- Perform basic CPR as required
