Temporary Security Officer

The University of Iowa Campus Safety is seeking a Temporary Security Officer to patrol campus buildings.

This position is performed fully on campus.

• Patrol campus buildings and assigned areas with a focus on access control, public safety, and student well-being.
• Reporting discrepancies and hazards and notifying police as needed.
• Use of portable radio communication, body cameras, and departmental vehicles.
• Use of vehicle camera system and small electronics.
• Traversing outdoors in all weather conditions.

Wage: $18.72 per hour.

Schedule:

Monday‑Friday 3:00PM‑12:30AM, Saturday & Sunday 7:00AM‑12:30AM (Temporary employees limited to 29 hours per week/780 hours per fiscal year).

Location:

Campus Safety, UCC and surrounding campus.

• Valid driver’s license.
• Ability to meet and maintain UI Driving Policy.
• Successfully completed a criminal background check.

• Ability to maintain a professional and respectful demeanor with the public that fosters good relations.
• Demonstrated customer service experience.
• Basic computer skills.
• Effective communication skills, oral and written, to interact with people from various backgrounds and cultures.
