Senior Payroll Officer – Ayrshire | Full-Time | Permanent. Salary: c. £40,000 DOE
Are you an experienced payroll professional looking for your next challenge within a successful and growing organisation? Our client, a well-established business with an excellent reputation in Ayrshire, is seeking a Senior Payroll Officer to join their finance team.
The RoleReporting into senior finance leadership, you will be responsible for managing end-to-end payroll operations, ensuring compliance with payroll legislation and providing an excellent service to employees across the business.
- Processing monthly & weekly end‑to‑end payroll for up to 400 employees
- Managing payroll queries and providing support to employees and managers
- Administering starters, leavers, contractual changes and statutory payments
- Ensuring compliance with HMRC regulations, pensions and payroll legislation
- Reconciling payroll reports and maintaining accurate payroll records
- Preparing payroll journals and supporting month‑end reporting
- Managing relationships with external payroll providers where applicable
- Producing payroll reports and analysis for leadership teams
- Supporting audits and ensuring robust payroll controls are maintained
- Identifying opportunities to improve payroll processes and efficiencies
- Proven experience in an end-to-end payroll position
- Strong knowledge of end-to-end payroll processing
- Experience with Sage Payroll would be advantageous
- Excellent understanding of payroll legislation, statutory payments and pensions
- Experience dealing with payroll reconciliations and reporting
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to manage workloads effectively and meet strict deadlines
- Experience using payroll systems and Microsoft Excel
