Position SummaryThe TRIO - SSS Student Support Assistant provides specialized administrative, clerical, and operational support to the Student Support Services (SSS) program. This role is crucial in maintaining the integrity of the program by ensuring compliance with federal regulations, managing student databases, and delivering exceptional customer service to current and prospective TRIO students, staff, and the public.
Responsibilities- Compile and maintain participant records including eligibility and need for project services, attendance and record of services received, transcripts, diagnostic and achievement tests, and other instruments used by the project and in reporting.
- Maintain all product expenditures and verify project balances with quarterly Business Office reports.
- Collect and maintain records in compliance with U.S. Department of Education regulations.
- Prepare minutes and records of planning sessions for TRIO SSS Grant meetings.
- Type and edit reports and other documents as requested.
- Organize correspondence, memos, reports, expenditures, and notices as needed.
- Communicate effectively with the campus community.
- Provide reception, schedule appointments, and respond to requests for information.
- Monitor and maintain supplies.
- Make travel, hotel, and meeting arrangements when requested.
- Maintain confidentiality regarding FERPA and all NICC requirements.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Minimum of an Associate of Arts or Science or Associate of Applied Science degree.
- Minimum of 1–3 years of experience in customer service and records management is preferred.
- Proficient in Google Workspace and related software programs, including the ability to operate standard office equipment.
- Experience with basic bookkeeping.
- Demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and maintain strict confidentiality.
- Life and/or work experience with first‑generation, low‑income, and/or students with disabilities (preferred).
