summary descriptionunder general supervision, performs moderately difficult and responsible clerical work, requiring some independent judgment and application of established office or school policies and procedures. Incumbent performs related work as required.
responsibilities- acts as receptionist: answers telephones, greets visitors, answers questions or directs the public to appropriate individuals, screens visitors, sorts and distributes mail, arranges appointments, enrolls and withdraws students, manages related entry and exit forms, maintains records of departmental personnel, and places messages for busy or unattended extensions.
- types routine correspondence, reports, forms and notices from rough copies or manual dictation; proofreads; prepares and assembles materials; organizes and maintains filing systems; performs simple research to assist in answering inquiries.
- assists in preparing federal, state, and district reports requiring data assimilation and statistical data; performs student attendance office duties; posts information to permanent records including attendance and grades.
- performs duties related to infinite campus data clean‑up and input, ensuring all fields are complete for enrolled students; supports record requests for parents; ensures correct primary home language entry; verifies data elements associated with pulliam implementation; supports count day dry run and reports; supports mandatory state reports; balances monthly school reports; generates the master register.
- for incumbents assigned formal bilingual duties: provides verbal and basic written translations, answers telephone requests, serves as point of contact for parents, students, and community representatives; greets and assists students, staff and parents; assists with attendance, interpreting responsibilities in discipline issues, parent conferences, iep meetings, open houses, and parent meetings; communicates policy to parents and students; assists administration in problem solving;
and acts as interpreter for parents.
education/experience
- equivalent to a high school diploma
- two (2) years of progressively responsible clerical experience
knowledge of
- grammar, spelling, vocabulary, and simple mathematical computations
- modern office practices, procedures, and equipment
- computer familiarity

licenses/certificates
incumbents assigned formal bilingual duties must demonstrate basic oral spanish translation competencies by passing a spanish language certification program (level one) offered by tmcc. Successful applicants will complete a competency exam coordinated and paid for by wcsd and administered by tmcc.

incumbents with bilingual responsibilities may be required to work a flexible schedule, which may include evening hours.
