Job Summary
The Medical Office Clerk serves as the first point of contact for patients and visitors by providing exceptional customer service, scheduling appointments, managing phone communications, and coordinating patient access to healthcare services. This role maintains accurate medical records, supports healthcare providers with administrative and clerical functions, ensures the integrity of appointment and patient record systems, and contributes to the efficient daily operation of the medical clinic.
Required Qualifications- Education: High school diploma or General Educational Development (GED) equivalency.
- Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS).
- License: N/A
- Experience: At least 6 months of experience in an office setting.
- U.S. Citizenship is required.
- Fully qualified typist with a minimum of 50 words per minute.
- General medical ethics, telephone etiquette, and excellent communication and customer service skills.
- General office administrative and clerical skills for receptionist duties and answering telephones.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
- Greets patients/visitors at the front desk or information center.
- Answers the main office phone line and directs calls to the appropriate section, taking messages as required.
- Arranges and schedules medical appointments and determines patient eligibility for services.
- Obtains updates, files, and extracts medical records as needed, ensuring completeness, accuracy, and consistency within established guidelines.
- Initiates and locates patient medical records and obtains documentation requested by healthcare providers (e.g., test results).
- Creates appointment schedules and templates in the patient appointment computer system.
- Conducts end‑of‑day processes, resolving any delinquent or pending appointments.
- Performs other administrative and clerical duties to support medical care and operational support.
One site, Monday to Friday, 7:30–16:30 with a non‑compensation hour lunch. Federal holidays are not considered workdays.
Physical RequirementsThe work is primarily sedentary but may include prolonged walking, standing, sitting, or bending.
Compensation & BenefitsUp to $19.50 per hour + H&W.
