Legal Assistant

Company Description Austin Kippley PLC is a small law firm serving clients in the Rock Rapids, Iowa area since 1923.

Role Description The Legal Assistant is on-site role based in Rock Rapids, IA. We are accepting part-time OR full-time applicants. In this position, the individual will support attorneys by preparing and organizing legal documents, maintaining case files, and managing calendars, deadlines, and appointments. Daily tasks include drafting correspondence, filing and retrieving records, coordinating communication with clients, courts, and other parties, and assisting with the assembly of documents for hearings and meetings.

The role also involves general administrative assistance such as answering phones, managing email, handling mail, and supporting office operations. The Legal Assistant will work collaboratively with attorneys and staff to ensure efficient case management and a high level of client service.

Qualifications

• Candidates should possess strong communication skills for interacting with clients, courts, and internal team members.
• Candidates should possess administrative assistance skills, including scheduling, data entry, and general office support.
• Additional beneficial qualifications include strong organizational skills, attention to detail, confidentiality, and the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
• Proficiency with office software (e.g., word processing, spreadsheets, legal practice management systems) and accurate typing skills is preferred.
• A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
