Job Title: Dispatcher

Department: Transportation

FLSA: Non-Exempt

General Function

Prepares store orders including accurately selecting ordered items via a voice automated selection system and packages them for shipment.

Primary Duties And Responsibilities

• Routes loads, assigns drivers, assigns equipment, and posts daily dispatch sheet.
• Makes appointments for back hauls and organizes order paperwork by pickup dates.
• Audits and records previous days log sheets, fuel tickets, and inspection sheets.
• Consults with warehouse department managers with load set up.
• Answers telephone, coordinates add on orders, makes appointments, and directs callers.
• Reports to work when scheduled and on time.

Secondary Duties And Responsibilities

• Performs other job related duties and special projects as required
• Attends and participates in company meetings as needed.

Education And Experience

High school or equivalent experience; transportation or dispatch experience preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities And Worker Characteristics

• Must be able to solve practical problems; variety of variables with limited standardization; interpret instructions.
• Must have the ability to perform arithmetic calculations involving fractions, decimals, and percentages.
• Must have the ability to make appointments and process mail; compose original correspondence and write form letters; interpret written work instructions; follow technical manuals; interview to obtain basic and job performance information; counsel or advise people; and have increased contact with people.

Physical Requirements

• Must be physically able to perform light work: exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, 10 pounds of force frequently to move objects.
• Visual requirements include vision from 20 inches or less to 20 feet or more with or without correction and color vision.
• Must be able to perform the following physical activities:
  Reaching, pushing, pulling, lifting, balancing, grasping, fingering, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions.

Working Conditions

The duties of this position are conducted in a warehouse setting. There is exposure to dirt, noise, temperature extremes, and equipment movement hazards. There is significant pressure to meet set standards for order selectors and equipment operators.

Equipment Used To Perform Job

The duties of this position are performed in a combination of a warehouse and office setting. There is exposure to dirt, noise and equipment movement hazards. There is significant pressure to meet deadlines and handle multiple tasks in a day.
