Job Description:
Major Responsibility:
- Coordinate and implement DPS events and programs, including the MET High School internship program, etc.
- Carry a portfolio of managing at least two programs/events that engage with the student population
- Provide logistical support in coordinating meetings, managing the department engagement calendar, as well as logistics for programs (taking meeting minutes, event set-up, food, location, securing guest speakers, emailing and posting flyers around campus, and photography)
Conduct outreach and identify student groups and departments for future partnerships - Support the development of opportunities for partnerships by engaging community organizations, community leaders, youth, and other stakeholders in Providence.
- Supervise student assistants and manage assignments that support department success, such as distribution of printed and electronic materials; other clerical needs; general event support
Represent the team at events and programs, with a willingness to train and serve as an instructor for courses - Research different topics of importance, such as policing, community relations, accountability, safety, and resources for survivors of crime
- Attend and participate in on and off-campus working groups
- Assist the Director with communications projects as needed
- Draft the community newsletter, including gathering content and growing audiences
- Manage department social media accounts
- Assist with the design of graphic materials, including event posters, recruitment materials, safety information, maps, and pamphlets
- Maintain website updates
- Support public information and transparency initiatives, including the DPS Community Survey, complaint forms, and other feedback mechanisms
- Create Power Points and other tools for presentations
- Manage the registration system and track attendance metrics for department events, programs, and training courses.
- Maintain and audit the monthly inventory of department materials, outreach supplies, and promotional items
- Monitor, analyze, and report on social media and website analytics to evaluate the reach and effectiveness of digital communication strategies
- Assist with implementing digital and in-person strategies to collect feedback, recommendations, and input from community members
- Assist with gathering and collecting data for annual reporting and CALEA accreditation
- Responding to inquiries regarding programs and concerns from community members
- Manage and adjust the program calendar, schedule routine meetings, and coordinate logistics for events or workshops
- Resolve minor, day-to-day concerns with program participants, vendors, or venues using established procedures
- Making modifications to program curriculum, eligibility criteria, project timelines, etc.
- Issuing public-facing materials and communications
- Budget expenditures
- Engagement and programming for the University's approximately 10,000 students and 4,000 staff/faculty regarding personal and public safety issues.
- Working with the Director, publicize department events and programs creating and utilizing a variety of marketing tools
- Working with staff and faculty to create and maintain relationships with University/community partners and area organizations and provide coordination for partnership programming
- Working with staff and students, initiate meetings and manage logistics; execute communications to involved parties

- Use practical and mature judgment to resolve low to medium level conflicts or issues as they arise
Competencies:
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's Degree preferred, plus 2- 3 years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Knowledge of higher-education or non-profit setting is highly desirable.

- Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate, collaborate, and connect with people with various backgrounds, identities, and lived experiences.
- Strong listening, oral, and written communication skills.
- Computer skills/experience in:
Microsoft Office Suite, Google Suite, and Social Media.platforms - Must be flexible and able to adapt in a changing and emergency
-service centered environment and able to meet time-sensitive deadlines. - Understanding and familiarity of issues regarding policing and groups from diverse populations, particularly from BIPOC, LGBTQ+, undocumented, first-generation college, low-income, and international communities
- Experience in outreach, marketing, or grassroots/community organizing
- Familiarity with programs like Canva, Adobe, Qualtricsor Mailchimp a plus.
