Industrial Services General Foreman​/Safety Lead

Job Summary

The General Foreman / Safety Lead oversees and directs multiple field crews performing process maintenance activities, including conveyor belt installation, vulcanized and mechanical belt splicing, rubber repair, and industrial maintenance support across mining, industrial, oil & gas, and construction environments. The role provides overall field leadership, project coordination, workforce management, and safety oversight while ensuring operational excellence and client satisfaction.

Key responsibilities include coordinating daily field operations, manpower allocation, project execution, resource planning, and workforce performance, serving as the primary field liaison between crews, clients, project management, subcontractors, and company leadership.

As the project's designated safety leader, the General Foreman / Safety Lead develops, implements, and maintains a proactive safety culture across all assigned projects, conducts safety audits, oversees pre-task planning, supports incident investigations, and serves as primary contact for safety matters.

Reporting to the Industrial Services Superintendent, the role balances operational leadership, workforce development, project execution, client relations, and safety management to ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, and on schedule.

• Lead and coordinate multiple field crews performing preventative maintenance tasks, conveyor belt installation, repair, vulcanized and mechanical splicing, pulley lagging, steel lining, and rubber lining.
• Provide overall project leadership and direction to Foremen, Lead Technicians, maintenance personnel, and field crews.
• Plan, organize, and coordinate daily project activities to ensure work is executed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with project schedules and client expectations.
• Oversee workforce assignments, manpower planning, equipment utilization, and material requirements across assigned projects.
• Monitor project productivity, quality, safety performance, and workforce effectiveness while implementing corrective actions as needed.
• Support and coordinate advanced conveyor maintenance activities including belt tracking, tensioning, alignment corrections, splice fabrication, and component replacement.
• Coordinate emergency repairs, troubleshoot equipment breakdowns, and support timely resolution to minimize operational downtime.
• Review field operations and identify opportunities for operational improvements, increased efficiencies, and enhanced safety performance.
• Serve as the primary field contact for clients, project stakeholders, subcontractors, and company management.
• Ensure compliance with all contract requirements, project specifications, company policies, and client expectations.
• Develop, implement, and maintain project-specific safety plans, procedures, and safe work practices.
• Lead and oversee daily pre-task planning meetings, Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), Activity Hazard Analyses (AHAs), safety briefings, and risk assessments.
• Conduct and document regular safety inspections, audits, observations, and field evaluations of work areas, equipment, tools, and personnel.
• Monitor field operations to ensure employees, subcontractors, and visitors comply with established safety procedures, PPE requirements, and safe work practices.
• Exercise stop-work authority when unsafe conditions or behaviors are identified and ensure corrective actions are implemented before work resumes.
• Lead investigations involving incidents, near misses, property damage events, environmental releases, and safety observations; document findings and oversee implementation of corrective actions.
• Maintain safety documentation including inspection reports, training records, incident reports, corrective action logs, JHAs, AHAs, site-specific safety requirements, and regulatory compliance records.
• Monitor and evaluate project safety performance metrics, identify trends, and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
