Overview
Senior Project Architect — Nevada, Iowa | Full-Time.
Schedule:
Mostly onsite; light travel as needed.
- Help the business development team with early design ideas, site layouts, proposals, and interview prep.
- Plan and manage the workload of the design team and coordinate schedules with estimating and construction.
- Help define the project’s goals, budget, and design options with the owner.
- Lead all architectural design phases including schematic design, design development, and construction documents.
- Act as the main point of contact for owners, consultants, and internal teams.
- Make sure design decisions match the owner’s goals and overall budget.
- Work closely with estimating as the design evolves to keep costs aligned.
- Issue design documents for owner review at key checkpoints.
- Run design meetings, record decisions, and share meeting notes.
- Review and coordinate drawings from all engineering disciplines for accuracy and constructability.
- Perform quality checks on all drawings before sending to the owner.
- Review submittals and answer RFIs during construction.
- Prepare project specifications and ensure they match the drawings.
- Stay up to date on building codes, energy codes, and local regulations.
- Prepare documents for permitting and work with local authorities to secure approvals.
- Mentor junior team members and support their training and development.
- Visit job sites as needed and share updates through written reports.
- Help resolve design issues quickly and effectively.
- Use tools like Revit, Enscape, BSD Speclink, and Adobe Suite for daily project work.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with owners, consultants, and internal project teams.
- Active Architect license in Iowa.
- 7+ years of architectural experience on commercial projects.
- Experience leading or mentoring others is preferred.
- Strong understanding of building systems, design coordination, and construction processes.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks, lead projects, and communicate clearly.
