Kindergarten Teacher

Overview

The Classical Academy in Alton, Iowa seeks a full-time classroom teacher for our youngest learners! We are hiring a full-time teacher for a blended Kindergarten/1st grade classroom. TCA's mission is to cultivate Christian piety by directing students’ minds and hearts toward Christ, in whom all truth, goodness, and beauty hold together. We seek to develop a culture of joy, wonder, and gratitude through a classical education in the liberal arts tradition.

All TCA faculty must heartily believe, promote, and defend TCA’s Statement of Faith and Statement on Character and Conduct. Teachers hold a central role in helping us fulfilling our mission by effectively teaching their assigned subjects, limiting the use of technology in the classroom, and cultivating a classroom culture that reflects the pursuit of virtue and exemplifies the conduct and character fitting to disciples of Christ.

TCA teachers will foster an atmosphere of joy, wonder, and gratitude through learning; will consistently following TCA’s conduct and discipline policies; will maintain a studious and orderly classroom environment; and will consistently show love to all students, regardless of their behavior.

• Teach assigned subjects, effectively delivering instruction in a blended Kindergarten/1st grade setting.
• Limit the use of technology in the classroom and cultivate a classroom culture that reflects virtue and Christlike conduct.
• Foster an atmosphere of joy, wonder, and gratitude through learning, and consistently follow TCA’s conduct and discipline policies.
• Maintain a studious and orderly classroom environment and show love to all students, regardless of their behavior.

• Ability to act in a professional manner and represent the values of the school to the community and external constituents
• A commitment to fully understanding TCA’s educational philosophy so that it can be applied faithfully and thoroughly to classroom atmosphere and instruction
• Desire to invest in the broader school community and culture
• Genuine love for students
• Interest in developing lesson plans focused on real-world learning, mitigating the use of technology in the classroom
• Capability to plan, collaborate, and encourage
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills

• A bachelor’s degree
• Demonstrated Christian witness and maturity
• Consistent attendance and involvement in a local church
