The Dallas Center-Grimes Community School District is a district with 3,500 students located just northwest of Iowa’s capital city of Des Moines. SUMMARYThe High School Spanish Teacher delivers world language instruction for students in grades 9–12. The teacher facilitates effective language learning through standards-based instruction, cultural exploration, and communicative practice to support student proficiency and access to the general curriculum. The Spanish Teacher designs engaging lessons, assesses student progress, and collaborates with staff to promote student success in Spanish language acquisition.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES- Plan and deliver high-quality instruction aligned with district curriculum, state standards, and world language best practices.
- Facilitate Spanish language learning through listening, speaking, reading, and writing activities.
- Prepare instructional materials, assessments, and learning resources that support student language development.
- Communicate regularly with students, families, teachers, and counselors regarding academic progress and classroom expectations.
- Maintain accurate records of student achievement, attendance, and performance data.
- Implement effective classroom management strategies that promote a positive learning environment.
- Provide instructional accommodations and modifications as required by IEPs, 504 plans, or language learning needs.
- Integrate technology and digital tools to enhance language learning and student engagement.
- Support students during assessments, classroom activities, and school-wide events as needed.
- Participate in required meetings, professional development, and district trainings.
- Promote and adhere to district policies, procedures, and professional standards of conduct.
- Bachelor’s degree in Spanish, World Languages or a related field required.
- Experience teaching or working with high-school students is preferred.
- Criminal background check required.
- State of Iowa teaching license with a Spanish endorsement required.
- Demonstrated proficiency in Spanish required.
