The Winfield-Mt. Union Community School District is seeking a passionate and student-centered Half-Time Elementary Music Teacher to join our team. The successful candidate will provide engaging, developmentally appropriate music instruction for elementary students while fostering creativity, collaboration, and a lifelong appreciation for music. This individual will contribute positively to WMU’s strong school culture and commitment to student success.

• Provide music instruction to elementary students.
• Develop and implement standards-based lesson plans aligned to Iowa Core Fine Arts Standards.
• Teach foundational music skills including rhythm, melody, harmony, movement, vocal technique, and instrumental exploration.
• Prepare students for performances and school programs as appropriate.
• Foster a positive, inclusive, and supportive classroom environment.
• Assess and monitor student progress; communicate effectively with families regarding student growth.
• Collaborate with classroom teachers and staff to support cross-curricular connections.
• Maintain inventory and care of music equipment and instructional materials.
• Participate in staff meetings, professional development, and district initiatives.
• Uphold district policies, procedures, and professional standards.

• Valid Iowa teaching license with appropriate endorsement in Music (K–8 or K–12).
• Strong classroom management and organizational skills.
• Knowledge of child development and effective instructional strategies.
• Ability to build positive relationships with students, families, and staff.
• Experience in elementary music education preferred.

• Ability to differentiate instruction to meet diverse learner needs.
• Effective communication and collaboration skills.
• Commitment to fostering creativity and student engagement.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills.

• School classroom setting.
• Frequent standing, movement, and demonstration of musical activities.
• Occasional evening performances or events.
