St. Patrick School, in Anamosa, Iowa is seeking a passionate and faith-filled Art Teacher to join our school community for the school year. The ideal candidate will nurture students' creativity as a reflection of God's gifts, fostering an appreciation for beauty, self-expression, and the arts within the context of the Catholic faith. This role involves delivering engaging, standards-based art instruction while integrating Catholic values and traditions into the curriculum.
This is a .2 FTE which is 8 hours per week. There is the possibility of pairing this position with another Catholic School in the area for more hours (if they have not filled their position by the time we hire).
- Plan and implement a comprehensive art curriculum aligned with school, diocesan, and state standards
- Integrate Catholic teachings, traditions, and themes (such as liturgical seasons, saints, and sacred art) into art lessons
- Teach a variety of artistic techniques, media, and art history, including exposure to sacred and classical art
- Foster a classroom environment rooted in respect, creativity, and the dignity of every child as a creation of God
- Guide students in using their artistic talents to express faith, reflect on scripture, and celebrate the Church year
- Differentiate instruction to meet diverse learning needs and abilities
- Assess student progress and provide constructive, encouraging feedback
- Organize and maintain art supplies, materials, and a safe, welcoming classroom space
- Collaborate with teachers and staff to support cross-curricular and faith-based initiatives
- Display student artwork and coordinate art shows, including those connected to school liturgies and events
- Support school-wide faith activities (e.g., liturgies, prayer services, seasonal celebrations)
- Bachelor?s degree in Art Education or a related field
- Valid teaching certification/license (as required by state of Iowa/diocese)
- Practicing Catholic preferred, with knowledge of Catholic teachings and traditions
- Commitment to the mission and values of Catholic education
- Strong classroom management, organization, and communication skills
- Passion for both art education and faith formation in young learners
