Location: Estherville
This is a part-time per course contracted position based on need as determined by the Dean of CTE. Must evaluate and report student performance and progress in courses in accordance with college and division policies and procedures. Must meet Adjunct Faculty qualifications.
This position is for an adjunct Aviation Ground School Instructor and is responsible for conducting one or more of the following courses:
Private Pilot, Instrument Rating, Commercial Pilot, Flight Instructor, Flight Instructor-Instrument, Aviation Safety, Aviation Weather, General Aviation Operations Management, and FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot. Days and times to be determined.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES (% OF THE TIME):
Constant (67-100%)
* Conduct classroom, laboratory, and/or online instruction for assigned aviation courses including Private Pilot, Instrument Rating, Commercial Pilot, CFI, CFII, Aviation Safety, Aviation Weather, General Aviation Operations Management, and FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot
* Effectively organize, teach, and evaluate student performance and progress in assigned course offerings in accordance with established syllabi. Assignments may include various delivery formats, methods, work schedules, and locations.
* Evaluate and record student performance and progress according to College and division guidelines and FAA standards.
* Maintain current course syllabi and provide student guides for all courses taught in accordance with College and FAA standards.
Frequent (34-66%)
* Prepare lesson plans, presentations, instructional materials, and classroom activities aligned with approved syllabi and FAA standards.
* Evaluate and assess student performance through quizzes, examinations, assignments, projects, and participation.
* Maintain accurate attendance, grading, training, and academic records in accordance with institutional and FAA requirements.
* Ensure instructional compliance with FAA regulations, institutional policies, accreditation standards, and departmental procedures.
Occasional (10-33%)
* Maintain current knowledge of FAA regulations, aviation industry trends, instructional techniques, and aviation technology.
* Promote aviation professionalism, safety culture, risk management, CRM, and ethical conduct within the learning environment.
* Encourage and foster student participation in professional organizations, College activities and community activities.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
* Knowledge of FAA regulations, aviation training standards, and aeronautical subject areas applicable to pilot certification and aviation operations.
* Knowledge of instructional methods, student assessment practices, and educational technology systems.
* Effective classroom instruction, communication, and presentation skills.
* Strong organizational, recordkeeping, and time-management abilities.
* Proficiency with standard instructional and educational technology platforms.
* Ability to instruct and engage students with varying experience levels and learning styles.
* Ability to maintain compliance with FAA, accreditation, and institutional requirements.
* Ability to promote professionalism, safety, and sound aeronautical decision-making in an academic environment.
SPECIAL DEMANDS:
Position involves sitting or standing most of the time in an office or classroom/laboratory setting. Constant (67-100%) reaching, standing, walking, lifting, grasping, talking, hearing, repetitive motions, and viewing various types of close visual work. Frequent (34-66%) stooping, kneeling, crouching, pushing, pulling, and carrying. Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and 10 pounds of force frequently. May be required to travel utilizing personal vehicle.
Must have valid driver's license, good driving record, and provide proof of insurance.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Required 6,000 hours (3 years) of tested experience OR an associate degree in the field and 3,000 (1 ½ years) of tested experience. Preferred bachelor's degree in the area or possess a bachelor's degree in any area of study with at least 18 credit hours in the CTE field of instruction.
