General Job Summary
This is a part‑time, per‑course contracted position. The incumbent evaluates and reports student performance and progress in courses in accordance with college and division policies and procedures. The position requires Adjunct Faculty qualifications. The instructor conducts one or more of the following courses:
Private Pilot, Instrument Rating, Commercial Pilot, Flight Instructor, Flight Instructor‑Instrument, Aviation Safety, Aviation Weather, General Aviation Operations Management, and FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot. Days and times are to be determined. The instructor may be required to travel using a personal vehicle and must have a valid driver’s license, good driving record, and proof of insurance.
Employment is dependent upon successful criminal background check and eligibility to work in the United States without employer sponsorship. Iowa Lakes Community College participates in the federal E‑Verify program.
Responsibilities- Evaluate and report student performance and progress in courses.
- Teach the specified aviation ground school courses.
- Comply with college and division policies, procedures, and FAA training standards.
- Travel as required using a personal vehicle and maintain required documents.
Required:
6,000 hours of tested experience (3 years) OR an associate degree and 3,000 hours of tested experience (1½ years).
Preferred:
Bachelor’s degree in the area or any field with at least 18 credit hours in the CTE field of instruction.
- FAA certificates and ratings appropriate to instructional assignments.
- Prior aviation instructional or industry experience.
- Demonstrated knowledge of FAA training standards and aviation operations.
- Certified Flight Instructor (CFI) certificate.
- Certified Flight Instructor‑Instrument (CFII) certificate.
- Advanced Ground Instructor (AGI) and/or Instrument Ground Instructor (IGI) certificate.
- Previous collegiate aviation teaching experience.
- Experience with FAA Part 141 training environments.
- Experience with aviation learning management systems and simulation technologies.
$725 per credit. Classes may vary from one to six credit hours.
