Job Description
Gen ED Para Educator – 3.25 hrs per week
Location:
Davenport Community Schools Blue Grass Elementary, Blue Grass, Iowa
Wages:
Entry level rate $16.39/hr
. Current employees in the bargaining unit: refer to the salary schedule established by the applicable bargaining group.
- Collaborate with teachers in MTSS to support student success.
- Teach, model, and support PBIS in all building situations.
- Work with students in the skills room.
- Engage with all students and foster a positive learning environment.
- Use computer skills to input data into a student data system and manipulate spreadsheets.
- Assist classroom teachers with instruction and maintain a structured setting.
- Follow teacher directions for instruction and use developmentally appropriate practices.
- Monitor student progress by maintaining records and providing feedback.
- Resolve conflicts and communicate with students in a friendly, non‑threatening manner.
- Maintain patience and positive interpersonal skills with all students.
- Walk hallways during class and passing times, reporting issues to office staff.
- Communicate with instructional staff daily regarding instruction and student issues.
- Build rapport with culturally diverse students to help each achieve their full potential.
- Ensure good attendance and punctuality.
- Have or be willing to learn skills related to MTSS and PBIS.
- Perform other duties assigned by the building administrator.
- Ability to stand for extended periods.
- Ability to walk for extended periods.
- Ability to lift, push, or pull up to 50 lbs.
- Good attendance and flexibility to accommodate schedule changes.
- Experience working with at‑risk students is a plus.
- Proven record of building rapport with culturally diverse students and families.
