Job DescriptionPosition Overview
The Student Support Coordinator supports a safe, orderly, and respectful learning environment across both the elementary and high school. This position works closely with administration and staff to address student behavior, build positive relationships, and provide proactive and responsive supports. This role works directly with students, supports instruction when needed, and assists staff in implementing effective behavior and engagement strategies.
PrimaryDuties & Responsibilities
- Assist administrators in investigating incidents, implementing disciplinary consequences, monitoring student behavior plans, and communicating expectations.
- Investigate behavioral incidents, gather information, and maintain clear, accurate documentation.
- Enforce district policies and student handbook expectations.
- Facilitate re-entry meetings following suspensions and develop behavior improvement plans.
- Monitor repeat or escalating behaviors and coordinate follow-up supports.
- Build systems and routines that promote positive student behavior and clear expectations.
- Use restorative practices (problem‑solving conversations, repairing harm, accountability) to address conflict.
- Be a lead in the Character Strong initiative.
- Provide teachers with practical strategies for classroom management and student engagement.
- Identify students in need of additional support and help design targeted interventions.
- Review behavior trends and recommend adjustments to supports or expectations.
- Develop strong, positive relationships with students across both buildings.
- Serve as a consistent, approachable adult for students needing support during the school day.
- Provide direct support to students experiencing behavioral, emotional, or social challenges.
- Collaborate with counselors, special education staff, and AEA personnel.
- Provide direct supervision and instructional support for students as needed, including in‑school suspension, intervention periods, and limited short‑term classroom coverage.
- Support academic progress for students whose behavior impacts learning.
- Collaborate with teachers to implement behavior strategies within the classroom.
- Model effective classroom management and student engagement techniques.
- Assist with structured interventions such as check‑in/check‑out, goal setting, and progress monitoring.
- Assist with student supervision (arrival/dismissal, lunch, passing periods, activities).
- Respond to and help de‑escalate student situations.
- Maintain a visible, proactive presence throughout both buildings.
- May periodically be assigned to the middle school on an as‑needed / emergency basis or in the absence of the building principal.
- Support administrators with daily operational needs.
- Communicate with parents/guardians regarding behavior concerns and supports.
- Participate in problem‑solving meetings with families.
- Ensure communication is timely, respectful, and focused on solutions.
- Demonstrate professionalism, sound judgment, and strong interpersonal skills.
- Be highly visible, accessible, and student‑centered.
- Support the mission and expectations of the AGWSR Community School District.
- Perform other duties as assigned by administration.
Full time school‑year, 176 day contract starting in August 2026.
Preferred degree and experience in education, psychology, counseling, social work, youth services or similar field.
Anticipated salary range depending on qualifications and experience, $40,000 - $55,000 annually.
