Formally opened in 1987, Holy Cross School is an integral component of the Northern Beaches Parish of Cairns. The Holy Cross School Charism - RELATIONSHIPS, COMMUNITY, SERVICE and STEWARDSHIP - referred to as ‘The Holy Cross Way’, is embedded in all facets of school life, and lived, modelled and articulated by every member of the school community.
Grounded in a reputation of innovation, Holy Cross School introduced internationally acclaimed Walker Learning in 2017. Walker Learning is an intentional teaching and learning approach for primary aged children that balances active participation with explicit instruction.
Holy Cross School embraces personalised self‑driven ‘flip’ learning platforms, providing one‑to‑one devices for Years 3 to 6 and shared devices for lower years.

Purpose of the RoleThe Teacher (Inclusion – Highly Individualised Planning) works within whole‑school initiatives to support students with extensive needs, focusing on holistic growth and development.
As The Teacher (Inclusion – Highly Individualised Planning) You Will- Plan, prepare and deliver effective learning and teaching programs.
- Build the capacity of support staff to deliver effective learning and teaching programs.
- Contribute to the establishment and maintenance of supportive classrooms, tutorial rooms and a sensory garden.
The Teacher (Inclusion – Highly Individualised Planning) also fulfils the following roles:
- Works closely with the Leader of Wellbeing to implement strategies that address individual engagement, social and emotional needs.
- Works closely with the Leader of Teaching and the Leader of Learning to implement strategies that address individual curriculum needs.
- Liaises with visiting specialists, including therapists and Inclusive Education Teachers.
- Communicates with parents as key partners in educational outcomes.
- Communicates regularly with mainstream teachers to support students with diverse learning needs.
- Communicates regularly with support staff.
- Be registered or eligible for registration with the Queensland College of Teachers.
- Be fully supportive of the ethos of Catholic Education.
