Primary PurposeWork together with building principal and peer program teachers to implement, enhance, and expand instructional duties and activities relating to the Culinary Arts program. Provide students with real‑world experiences through classroom instruction, hands‑on application, and work‑based learning opportunities.
Qualifications and Skills Education / Certification- Bachelor's or Associate's Degree in Culinary Arts or closely related area.
- Valid Texas CTE Trade and Industry Teaching Certificate or Family and Consumer Science with Culinary Arts approval.
- Current licensure by a state or nationally recognized accrediting agency or a passing score on the National Occupational Competency Testing Institute (NOCTI).
- Certification must meet requirements for becoming and remaining qualified for this position in a manner required by Federal and/or State law.
- Candidates seeking CTE certification based on skill and experience must complete an approved educator preparation program. Refer to Texas Department of Education website for details.
- Excellent organizational, communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficient in the effective use of technology used in the field of Culinary Arts, including Serv Safe Manager proctoring and certification.
- Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior.
- Ability to effectively communicate and work with students, parents, peers, administrators and business and industry partners.
- Two (2) years of full‑time wage earning experience within the past ten years in an approved occupation for Culinary Arts.
- Continue development and refinement of an innovative, industry‑standard program that meets the need for continued post‑secondary education and priority occupations in Culinary Arts.
- Adhere to the district's philosophy of instruction. Develop and personalize lessons that fulfill the requirements of the district's curriculum program and show digital evidence of preparation as required.
- Prepare lessons and evaluations that support differences in student learning styles. Present subject matter according to guidelines established by the Texas Education Agency, board policies and administrative regulations.
- Conduct effective classroom and lab instruction while maintaining discipline in a positive, safe learning environment.
- Conduct assessment of student learning styles and use results to plan instructional activities.
- Work cooperatively with special education teachers to provide accommodations as needed for special education students according to guidelines established in Individual Education Plans (IEP).
- Integrate academic core curriculum into meaningful, relevant curriculum; conduct effective classroom and lab instruction while maintaining discipline; create and maintain a positive, safe learning environment.
- Plan, develop and deliver instruction physically and digitally including extensive use of approved learning management systems and other personalized learning vehicles.
- Work with other staff members to determine instructional goals, objectives and methods according to district requirements.
