Position SummaryProvide daily classroom coverage for absent teachers in assigned grade levels/subject areas. Maintain a safe, respectful learning environment and ensure continuity of instruction. Follow district policies, school procedures, and the lesson plans provided.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Follow written lesson plans and classroom routines left by the teacher.
- Deliver instruction, facilitate activities, and support student learning as assigned.
- Maintain classroom management consistent with district expectations.
- Take attendance and complete required documentation (safety, discipline, medical issues).
- Communicate concerns promptly to the building office/administrator.
- Provide appropriate supervision in classrooms, hallways, lunchrooms, recess and during transitions.
- Use classroom technology and district systems as directed.
- Maintain a professional, respectful demeanor with students, staff, and families.
- Follow all safety procedures, including emergency drills and building protocols.
- Must hold or be eligible to obtain Substitute Authorization or Substitute License according to the requirements of the Iowa Board of Educational Examiners (BOEE).
- High school diploma minimum; additional education preferred (district may specify AA/BA/BS depending on needs).
- Reliable attendance and punctuality.
- On‑call/as needed; assignments may be half‑day or full‑day.
- Possible placements: preschool, elementary, middle school, high school.
- School days start at 8:00 am. Report time is at 7:45 am.
- May accept jobs through Absence Management.
$160.00 per day
