Position Overview Shenandoah Community School District is seeking a dynamic, student-centered educator to join our high school mathematics department for the school year. We are committed to academic excellence, fostering an environment where students develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills necessary for post-secondary success. The ideal candidate will be passionate about making complex mathematical concepts accessible and engaging for all learners.
Key Responsibilities- Instructional Excellence:
Deliver high-quality instruction in core subjects such as Algebra I & II, Geometry, Pre-Calculus, and Statistics, aligning lessons with Iowa Core standards. - Student Engagement:
Utilize diverse teaching strategies and educational technology to enhance mathematical visualization and personalized learning. - Assessment & Data:
Implement formative and summative assessments to monitor student progress, using data to drive instructional adjustments and interventions. - Classroom Culture:
Establish a positive, inclusive classroom environment built on mutual respect and clear expectations. - Collaboration:
Actively participate in Professional Learning Communities (PLCs), departmental meetings, and vertical alignment sessions with middle school and post-secondary partners. - Communication:
Maintain proactive and professional communication with parents, guardians, and stakeholders regarding student growth and well-being.
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Mathematics or Mathematics Education from an accredited institution. Certification:
Valid Iowa Teaching License with a 5-12 Mathematics Endorsement (or eligibility to obtain one by August 2026).
Skills:
Strong mastery of high school math content and the ability to differentiate instruction for diverse learners. Training:
Completion of required Iowa human relations training and mandatory reporter training.
