Responsibilities/

Essential Functions:

• Demonstrate the ability to enhance academic performance.
• Demonstrate competence in content knowledge appropriate to the teaching position.
• Demonstrate competence in planning and preparing for instruction.
• Use strategies to deliver instruction that meets the multiple learning needs of students.
• Use effective classroom management strategies.
• Fulfill all the responsibilities of the IEP: timely and current progress monitoring, use progress monitoring to guide instruction, etc.
• Work collaboratively with other educational professionals.
• Engage in professional growth.

Qualifications:

• Valid Iowa teaching license.
• Special Education Strategist II: BD/LD or willingness to obtain required license.

The successful candidate will exhibit:

• Ability to bend, lift, sit on the floor, run short distances, and assist physically active students.
• A basic understanding of the needs of children and the ability to relate to children with different academic and behavioral needs.
• Professional communication skills.
• Patience and compassion and maintain a caring and helpful relationship with children.
• Initiative and the insight to anticipate problem situations and respond accordingly.
• Ability to create a sense of belonging and a welcoming environment for all students and staff.
• Consistent and punctual attendance.
