Secondary Paraeducator

Job Description

Iowa Valley CSD is looking for a para educator in our secondary building (7‑12). Iowa Valley is located in Marengo, Iowa, approximately 30 mi west of the Cedar Rapids/Iowa City corridor and about 15 minutes north of I‑80.

Our ideal candidate will:

• Assist the classroom teacher in delivering lessons, activities, and assignments to students.
• Provide individualized and small group instruction to students, reinforcing learning and concepts under the teacher's guidance.
• Support students with special needs, providing accommodations and modifications to help them succeed in the classroom.
• Help manage student classroom behavior and maintain a positive, productive learning environment.
• Assist students with daily activities, including organization, transitions, and following routines.
• Monitor students during lunch, recess, and other non‑classroom settings.
• Maintain communication with the classroom teacher regarding student progress, behavior, and any concerns.
• Assist with the preparation and organization of instructional materials and resources.
• Support students with physical, social, or emotional needs, providing guidance and assistance as necessary.
• Observe and report student behavior and learning progress to the teacher, contributing to the development of student IEPs (Individualized Education Plans) when appropriate.
• Maintain confidentiality of student records and information.
• Attend professional development sessions and school meetings as required.
• Other duties as required.
