Appointment Type and DetailsThis is a tenure‑track faculty appointment. Applicants must hold a Ph.D. or terminal degree in Psychology or a closely related field by the position start date of August 15, 2027. This full‑time, nine‑month academic appointment (August – May) has an annual salary paid over 12 consecutive months, allowing continuous benefits coverage.
Department Environment and Position ResponsibilitiesThe Department of Psychological Science seeks a teacher‑scholar with expertise in clinical psychology, community psychology, and/or health psychology. Faculty responsibilities include maintaining an active program of scholarship, teaching and advising undergraduate students, mentoring students in research, and contributing to department and university service. Department tenure‑track faculty members typically teach on a two‑year 2‑2‑2‑3 course rotation (4‑unit classes) within a 40 % research, 40 % teaching, and 20 % service model.
This position does not include clinical training or supervision responsibilities, and clinical licensure is not required.
Successful candidates will have a record of active scholarship and demonstrate a strong commitment to mentoring undergraduate students. We welcome applicants whose work addresses social justice issues and/or who are oriented toward LMU’s mission, including sociocultural, interdisciplinary, and collaborative research with departmental or other LMU faculty.
Successful candidates will be prepared to teach a diverse undergraduate student body across a range of courses, including general psychology, statistical methods, research methods, and specialty courses in their area of expertise. Faculty in this position will be encouraged to contribute to the LMU Core Curriculum, such as by developing a First‑Year Seminar and/or courses incorporating engaged learning pedagogies.
Requirements- Ph.D. or terminal degree in Psychology or a closely related field by August 15, 2027.
- Active scholarship record with publications, preferably with digital object identifiers (DOIs).
- Demonstrated commitment to mentoring undergraduate students in research.
- Orientation toward social justice and LMU’s mission, including inclusive excellence and the Common Good.
- Experience or willingness to teach undergraduate courses in general Psychology, statistical methods, research methods, and specialty courses.
