Job DescriptionIowa Valley is looking for a half-time 4PK teacher! We have top-of-the-line facilities due to many upgrades since 2023. If you have an outgoing personality, proper licensing, and a love for teaching our Tiger Cubs, please apply!
A preschool teacher's job involves planning and implementing age-appropriate educational activities, creating a safe and stimulating learning environment, and fostering the social, emotional, and cognitive development of young children. They play a crucial role in preparing children for kindergarten and beyond by nurturing their curiosity, encouraging exploration, and building essential skills through play-based learning.
Key Responsibilities- Curriculum Development and Implementation: design and deliver lessons, activities, and experiences that align with early childhood education standards and address diverse student needs.
- Classroom Management: establish and maintain a positive, organized learning environment; manage student behavior; ensure a safe, engaging atmosphere.
- Child Development: observe, assess, and document each child's progress; identify potential learning or developmental challenges; provide individualized support.
- Communication and
Collaboration:
communicate regularly with parents and caregivers about child development; participate in parent-teacher conferences; collaborate with other preschool staff. - Social-Emotional Development: model appropriate behavior, foster positive social interactions, and help children develop essential social and emotional skills.
Skills and Qualifications
- Education and Experience: a bachelor's degree in early childhood education or a related field, along with relevant experience in a preschool setting, is preferred.
- Knowledge of Child Development: Understanding of child development principles, learning theories, and best practices in early childhood education is essential.
- Communication and Interpersonal
Skills:
Strong verbal and written communication skills, and ability to build rapport with children, parents, and colleagues. - Creativity and Adaptability: Must be creative, flexible, and adaptable to meet diverse student needs and a dynamic preschool environment.
- Patience and Empathy: Must be patient, nurturing, and able to create a supportive and inclusive learning environment.
