• Teach basic art classes and fundamentals.
• Include cross‑curriculum studies with classroom teachers when possible.
• Emphasize drawing and painting techniques, color mixing, and basic color theory.
• Explore various art mediums, drawing, watercolor basics, pens, pencils, markers, and mixed‑media techniques.
• Teach mixed‑media, collage, and 3D construction projects.
• Design lesson schedules, select materials, and set project timelines.
• Work with GT students on special creative assignments under GT teacher guidance.
• Report regularly to parents or guardians regarding student progress.
• Administer discipline in accordance with the Board Policy of the Meskwaki Settlement School.
• Attend all staff meetings convened by the Principal and fulfill supervisory duties as assigned.
• Assist with extracurricular and Meskwaki Language activities.
• Teach clay techniques, glazes, firing processes, wheel throwing, slab construction, and glaze application.
• Coordinate guest artists for demonstrations of throwing, applied designs, and glazing.
• Support event decorations for prom, graduation, choir, and band concerts.
• Showcase student artwork in school display cases and public community spaces.
• Enter student work in the State Fair in Des Moines and other Meskwaki Tribal Department competitions.
• Additional duties as assigned.

• Bachelor's Degree and certification required by the Bureau of Indian Education and the State of Iowa.
• Pass background check in accordance with Public Law 101-630, Public Law 101-647, and the Indian Child Protection and Family Violence Prevention Act.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Pass pre‑employment drug screen.

SUPERVISION: School Principal
