Job Description
The Benton Community School District is seeking a Special Education Associate / Paraprofessional for our Atkins Elementary Center. We are looking for a passionate, relationship‑driven, motivated, and student‑first individual to support our students.
Wage: $16.25 per hour (90‑day probationary period).
Weekly hours: 30–35 hours.
Work week: Same as student school days; approximately 178–180 days per school year (full‑year; otherwise pro‑rated).
Job Goal: Assist students with special needs by implementing IEP strategies, behavior programs, collecting data, consulting with the special education teacher, supporting classroom learning, and helping with hygiene, toileting, mobility, safety, and behavioral needs.
Performance Responsibilities /
Essential Functions:
- Administer, score, and record achievement and diagnostic tests as directed by the teacher.
- Supervise students on the playground, in the lunchroom, and at the bus line.
- Perform clerical duties including typing and filing.
- Supervise before‑ and after‑school programs.
- Participate in in‑service training as assigned.
- Help students master equipment or instructional materials assigned by the teacher.
- Alert the teacher to any problems or special information about an individual student.
- Maintain high ethical behavior and confidentiality of student information.
- Operate and care for classroom instructional equipment.
- Know emergency procedures for the building and classrooms in the assigned building.
- Perform other job‑related duties as assigned.
Physical Requirements: The physical demands include sufficient stamina to assist students with mobility and toileting, and the ability to work in hot, cold, or varied conditions. Reasonable accommodations may be made for individuals with disabilities.
Working Conditions: Varied; may be hot, cold, or other environmental conditions.
FLSA Status: Non‑Exempt (Hourly).
