Special Education Instructor
Position within the Iowa Department of Health and Human Services, Division of State-Operated Specialty Care, Bureau of State Training School (STS) in Eldora, Iowa.
Job OverviewFull‑time instructor focused on providing individualized instruction to students with diverse educational needs, collaborating with general education staff, and supporting student development.
Responsibilities- Plan and deliver special education instruction individually and in small groups.
- Coordinate with general education instructors and campus staff to meet student needs.
- Develop curriculum and participate in re‑licensure courses during designated work hours.
- Provide transitional services and contribute to a supportive environment for students aged 12‑18.
- Valid Initial, Standard, Master Educator, or Exchange License, or eligibility for a Class B License from the Iowa Board of Education.
- Endorsements: at least one of the following – Instructional Strategist I Mild & Moderate, Instructional Strategist II BD/LD, Multicategorical Special Class with Integration, Multicategorical Resource (option
1), Mildly Disabled, Behavior Disorders, or Learning Disabilities. - Proof of background check completion.
- Education:
holder of a bachelor's degree preferred. - Citizenship, residency, or valid work visa required.
