The NV INBRE grant is used, in part, to fund pipeline programs at CSN to increase student persistence and success in the Biomedical Sciences. We receive funding to run the Biomedical Exploration Workshop, in the summer, and Student Empowerment Workshops each semester, fall and spring.

The Biomedical Exploration Workshop exposes students to careers in the Biomedical Sciences on top of boosting reading comprehension, math and laboratory skills. The Student Empowerment Workshop serves as a Biology fundamentals and study skills program to help students pass BIOL 189.

Instructors for the Summer Biomedical Workshop at the CSN North Las Vegas Campus. Together with another instructor they will deliver lectures and instruct laboratory sessions with students. He may transport students to/from field trips and assist with guest speakers. More tasks include the assembly and organizing of materials needed for students as a part of the program. His experience and expertise is a valuable part of the program, adding further intellectual value.

The following list is an overview of tasks performed to run the CSN INBRE Summer Biomedical Workshop

• Assemble and organize educational materials
• Implement workshop curriculum - assist with guest speakers
• Present materials, lectures, and laboratory experiments
• Travel to/from/ Field Trips
• Set up, Clean, and break down workshop
• Communicate with the Coordinator for information etc.
• Communicate with Co-Instructor(s)

• Some Graduate Credits or Masters Degree - required
• Some teaching experience - preferred

Salary Information $10,000.00 Grant Funded, INBRE Exempt

No Full-Time Equivalent 50.0% Required
