Job Description Elementary Tutor

TITLE:

Elementary School Tutor

DEPARTMENT:
Elementary School Staff

REPORTS TO:

Building Principal

RECEIVES GUIDANCE FROM:
Building Instructional Coaches, Classroom Teachers, & Building Admin

BASIC FUNCTION:
Support students who struggle with meeting grade level learning targets under the guidance and direction of classroom teachers.

Required:

• Valid Iowa Teaching Certificate – applicable to posting.
• Bachelor’s degree or higher
• Good communication and problem solving skills.
• Self-directed
• Enthusiastic about learning and committed to continuous development as an educator

Desired:

• Previous experience in similar position

Demonstrated Experience or is Willing to Acquire the Following

Uses a variety of instructional strategies and materials consistent with core content standards and the needs/capabilities of individual students.

Creates a classroom environment that is aligned to research-based instruction and conducive to learning as well as appropriate to the maturity and interest of the students.

Plans, implements, and evaluates learning in accordance with established district curriculum expectations.

Maintains accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, administrative guidelines, or specific program requirements.

Develops reasonable rules of behavior and procedures and maintains order in a fair and just manner.
