AC/GC High School – Guthrie Center, Iowa

AC/GC High School is seeking a dedicated and collaborative High School Special Education Teacher to join our team. The successful candidate will support students with disabilities in grades 9–12 by providing high-quality instruction, fostering inclusive practices, and collaborating with colleagues and families to ensure student success.

• Provide direct instruction and instructional support to students with disabilities in accordance with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
• Develop, implement, and monitor IEPs, including progress monitoring and documentation.
• Collaborate with general education teachers to support inclusion, accommodations, and modifications.
• Utilize data-driven instructional practices to meet diverse learning needs.
• Communicate effectively with parents/guardians, staff, and service providers.
• Participate in IEP meetings, team meetings, and professional development.
• Maintain accurate and timely special education records and compliance with state and federal regulations.
• Support positive student behavior through PBIS and restorative practices.
• Contribute to a safe, respectful, and engaging learning environment.

• Valid Iowa teaching license with Strategist I endorsement (or ability to obtain).
• Willingness to obtain Strategist II endorsement if required by assignment.
• Knowledge of special education law, IEP development, and instructional strategies.
• Strong collaboration, communication, and organizational skills.
• Commitment to meeting the needs of all learners.

• Experience working with high school students.
• Experience in co-teaching or inclusive classroom settings.
• Familiarity with assistive technology and differentiated instruction.
